Profile and activities

In 1999, I completed my dr.philos. degree at The University of Oslo, on the Russian journalist, editor and literary critic A. Voronsky, a key figure in journalism and literary debates in Soviet Russia in the 1920s. Joining Oslo University College in 2000, my teaching and research since 2005 are in Media & communication studies and in journalism. Before joining OUC, I had worked more than 20 years in research administration, in business and in the government.

In 2011-12, my research includes a book project on media management as well as several articles. In September 2011, I gave a master class on Comparative Media Systems at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, as part of our NOMA Master program in Journalism, Media and Communication with Bangladesh and Nepal. In October 2011, I participated in the Norwegian-Vietnamese human rights dialogue in Oslo. In late December 2011, I visited St.Petersburg and colleagues at Herzen State Pedagogial University to discuss a joint application to the SIU Russia program 2012-2015. In the first half of 2012, my course "Communication and Media" is part of a new one-year MA-level program in Arts Management offered by our faculty. Scheduled activities in 2012 include a visit to Vietnam in early May for human rights discussions, the ICCMTD conference in Istanbul 9-11 May 2012 and the IAICS conference in Taiwan in early June 2012.
