Student workshop in Bangladesh and Nepal 10
Hello everybody!
My name is Jacobsen and I am 27 years old. I come from a village in the north of Norway, a little north of the arctic circle, called Elvegard, close to the industrial town of Narvik.
Now I live in Oslo, the capitol of Norway, and I like it quite well. I still like the outdoors a lot, and one of my hobbies are snowboarding, which I try to do as often as I can. Except for snowboarding and being at school, you can find me playing football or working out, spending time with friends and of course photographing.
Before I started to study photojournalism a year and some months ago I had been studying history for three-four years at the university in Trondheim. I like history a lot, but unfortunetly I do not know too much about Asian history. But i hope to learn a lot more before I go there and while I am there.
I am really looking forward to visiting both Bangladesh and Nepal. I have been travelling around earlier, and visited countries like Turkey, Mongolia and China, but never Bangladesh or Nepal. So far I have found out a few stories that I would like to do while in Asia.
The first is about the new security fence (or whatever it is called) that India is building along the border to Bangladesh. This is an important issue, and it deserves a published story.
I also want to do a story about the norwegian (state-owned) electricity company Stakraft. Statkraft is Europes biggest producer of hydroelectric power, and has been investing in Nepal, India, Laos, Bhutan and other countries for some time. And so far, their dams and power plants have been causing problems for many local people.
Last, but not least, I found out that there are quite a lot of sports in Nepal that I have never seen (or heard about) before. I would like to see these sports and make stories about them.
I am looking forward to seeing your countries and you people there!s
